Have you ever worried about a family member, a friend or elderly neighbor and their ability to get a proper meal?  If you have, you are not alone.  Rhode Island ranks 19th in the nation for food insecurity among seniors.  Whether it is an aging parent who finds difficulty in preparing a healthy meal or your neighbor who is recovering at home from a sickness or recent hospitalization, many people in our communities are unable to access adequate nutrition.

Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, Inc. is focused on the nutritional well-being and safety of seniors, the home-bound and the disabled, providing a healthy noon-time meal everyday.

Since 1969, Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, Inc. has provided daily meals to those who would otherwise lack the nutrition they need to maintain their health and independence.  Each day our volunteers and drivers pack and deliver approximately 1,500 meals throughout the state.  Our volunteers often are the only person — or visit a client might have that day.  Over time friendships are made, relationships are built and on occasion, lives are saved.

Because of your generous support and contributions, we are able to provide this meal and our service to our clients for only a suggested donation.

Last year, over 2,500 clients received a daily meal and the need continues to grow.  Your donation and support of Meals on Wheels will directly impact our ability to accomplish our Mission and fight senior hunger in Rhode Island.

Another way to support us is by creating a lasting legacy through your will. Your will serves as the road map to direct your last intentions with respect to the distribution of your resources and property. More profoundly; it is a summation of one’s life and a final opportunity to recognize the people and charitable causes you cherish. A bequest designated to Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island qualifies you to be recognized in the Joseph N. Brown Legacy Circle. Please consider including Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island in your will. You can speak with your financial advisor, or call the Development office at 401-351-6700 ext. 120 for more information.

Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island is a non profit organization funded in part by the Rhode Island Division of Elderly Affairs.  We depend and are grateful for the Charitable Gifts made by you, our generous donors.  For additional giving opportunities, please contact our Development office directly at 401-351-6700 ext. 120.

The agency adheres to The Donor Bill of Rights in accordance with The Association of Fundraising Professionals and The Partnership in Philanthropic Planning.  Review the Donor Bill of Rights.
