Dear Friends of Meals on Wheels of RI, more-than-just-a-meal
I am grateful to you for your past support of Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, and would like to share some of the things we have accomplished in 2018, thanks to your help.

  • To date, with the help of 700 volunteers statewide, we have delivered 255,000 meals on 79 delivery routes to clients across Rhode Island.
  • We have expanded our Capital City Café Program, now offering socialized dining and providing hot, nutritious meals at nine sites around greater Providence.
  • All of our clients have received a box with five shelf-stable meals, ensuring they will not have to go without their meal should winter weather or other emergent situations keep us from being able to safely dispatch our delivery drivers.

We provide more than just a meal, as those we serve are more likely to report improved mental and physical health, reduced anxiety, and lower rates of hospitalizations and falls. We know that for many we serve, ours is the only hot meal they have each day, and that a Meals on Wheels of RI driver  may be the only person they have a conversation with.  But, we need your help to carry on these efforts.
As you plan your year-end giving, we hope you will help us continue to combat hunger and isolation among our elderly and other homebound clients. And, if you follow our social media feeds, we encourage you to share our stories and help us spread the word.  Together, our collaboration improves the lives of those in our communities!
In gratitude,
Heather Amaral
