COVID-19 Response

Meals on Wheels of RI is proud to have continued its services without disruption during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thanks to the generosity and partnership of so many, we have continued to provide daily-delivered, complete and nutritious meals, vital well-being checks, and critical opportunities for socialization to thousands of seniors across Rhode Island.

To ensure the safety and health of our clients, volunteers, team members and all Rhode Islanders, we will continue to adhere to best practices as recommended by the CDC regarding virus transmission prevention:

  • Team members and visitors to Meals on Wheels of RI’s Providence headquarters who are fully vaccinated are welcome to enter our building without a mask and do not need to maintain six feet of social distance when inside the building
  • Team members and visitors who are not fully vaccinated must continue to wear masks and social distance
  • Team members who report or display any cold or flu-like symptoms will be asked to stay home from work
  • Clients who report any cold or flu-like symptoms will have their meals placed in front of their door. In such cases, the delivery driver will ring the client’s bell, then step away at least six feet and wait to see the client pick up the meal.

Volunteering

We are continuing to recruit additional volunteers to help us continue our mission. We have been humbled by the response we have received and encourage anyone interested in being a #deliveryhero to fill out this form. A team member will be in touch!

As a team, we continue to closely monitor developments and we will continue to update our clients, partners, stakeholders, donors, and community supporters as any new information becomes available.

If you are able to do so, we encourage you to join us in being #DeliveryHeroes by making a donation today to help sustain our vital work.

On behalf of everyone at Meals on Wheels of RI and especially the seniors we serve, we thank you for your continued partnership as we continue to carry out our mission of helping our seniors age healthily, safely and happily in their own homes.

With gratitude,
