Planning For Our Next 20 Million Meals
In spring 2022, Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island delivered its 20-millionth home-delivered meal, an outstanding milestone for the organization, and the impetus for our first strategic planning process in decades.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Meg Grady, MOWRI 2025 has guided the organization through tremendous growth and success in elevating its position as a Food Is Medicine-focused organization and trusted healthcare partner across the state.
The following are highlights from our work under MOWRI 2025
Y1 Accomplishments 2023
- Funded pilot projects served additional Rhode Island residents
- 88% of clients express overall program satisfaction
- Exceeded fundraising goals
- 100% of volunteers report enjoying their service experience
- Completed first two phases of headquarters renovation
- Expanded Community Health Worker Services
- Launched a cultural café program for the older adult Latinx community
- Increased community presence and outreach
- Achieved a 4.5/5 overall team member engagement score
Y2 Accomplishments 2024
- Reached key milestones in Meals+, a research grant focused on testing and documenting innovative practices in state nutrition programs
- Strengthened healthcare partnerships, enhancing access to medically tailored meals and grocery delivery services
- Launched a Veterans Café to honor those who have served
- Selected for the prestigious Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Award
- Directed 92% of organizational revenue to programming
- Added 6 new board members to fulfill subject matter expertise gaps
Y3 Accomplishments 2025
- Launched 2 post-charge meals programs to serve additional populations
- Increased “No Cost Market” utilization by 66%
- Hosted inaugural advocacy networking day
- Served as clinical site for collegiate nursing program
- Responded to 2025 SNAP emergency
- 53% of funds raised for headquarters renovation capital campaign
- Launched West African café program to serve this population of older adults
- Received national recognition of leadership achievement
